Lucknam Spa Design Concept

CCID have designed the 2000sq metre Spa location within a walled garden at Lucknam Park.  It features nine luxury treatment rooms, hairdressing salon, and a pre- and post treatment relaxation room.  There are individual speciality thermal experiences and an indoor lap pool with glass roof overlooking private relaxation gardens.  A hydrotherapy 'in-and-out' pool sits at the end of the lap pool leading into the garden.

The Spa's contemporary interior complements the traditional aesthetic of the manor house reflecting the formality of the existing grounds but with minimalist detailing.  A simple palette is maintained while integrating the surrounding garden into the Spa in very subtle unexpected ways.  The minimal interior of natural teak, local limestone and soft coloured glass mimics the materials found in the garden: wood, stone and water.

A simple horizontal niche within the pool area combines a water feature and contemporary fireplace adding warmth and a balance of natural elements.  Two of the treatment suites have a similar fireplace detail incorporating atmosphere within the tranquil ambience.  A luxurious double treatment room is also available.

Two walls of the Aromatic Steam Room have full height glazing allowing natural light to filter into the space.  Within the pool lounge is an operable glass façade and a vaulted glass roof allowing the garden to permeate this area.

The Japanese Salt steam room is clad with horizontal glass mosaics mimicking bamboo, a common element within Japanese gardens.  The Amethyst room is intended to resemble the inside of an amethyst stone.  Clad in faceted glass mosaics of random size and pattern the room has the colour of reflected amethyst. The Sauna is finished in teak with a faux fireplace housing hot stones in lieu of the traditional Sauna oven.  Ideally the stones may be used by guests in a similar way to a hot stone treatment.  The Aromatic steam room has glass walls clad in white glass mosaics allowing natural light into the space.  This simple scheme ensures that the space is all-enveloping allowing guests to focus on the aromas.
